Ibiza

THE ISLAND

Ibiza has long held a mystical, almost mythical, reputation for being the magical island where man and nature live in perfect harmony.  Perhaps it has something to do with its unspoilt, sleepy villages, its lovingly restored farmhouses, its pristine, sandy beaches or simply its rolling countryside, lush with almond blossom and fragrant with pine and jasmine.  It’s impossible not to fall in love with this island, a haven for holistic relaxation.  This is the place to while away the hours sleeping in a garden or lying in a hammock by the sea.

THE HISTORY

Founded by Phoenician settlers in 654 BC, the port of Ibiza is one of the earliest towns in Europe. Since then, it’s been conquered by Romans, Vandals, Byzantines and Moors who converted much of the population to Islam and finally by the Catalans who introduced the lasting impact of Christianity.  In the 1960’s and 70’s it was finally colonised by the Bohemians and creative escapees who arrived to find peace, simplicity and fun – and stayed forever.

Keeping busy

Ibiza is renowned for its nightlife and offers its residents and visitors alike an eclectic mix of nightclubs, bars and restaurants to suit all tastes. Away from the hustle and bustle, the island offers those wanting to explore, a glorious countryside and a beautiful unspoilt coast line to be explored on foot, bike or by boat.

FUN

Ibiza is known the world over for its glamorous nightlife with a huge variety of bars, restaurants and clubs to suit all tastes. However, during the sun-drenched days there is also an abundance of tranquil spots where people can meander through the countryside, cycle along the magnificent coastline, picnic on the beach or simply sink into a delicious stupor lying under a tree reading a book.
